There is nothing more classic than a University of South Carolina horseshoe engagement session if you live in the Columbia, SC area. Lauren and Josh are big Gamecock fans, so it seemed fitting to suggest this location. Despite being big fans, we were surprised to learn Lauren had never been to the horseshoe, and Josh hadn’t been since he was in college, so it made our session extra special.

What USC Means to Us

Tim and I hold USC near and dear to our hearts as it’s where we met – the summer before our senior year. USC brings back so much nostalgia, both good and bad. The struggles of being a student comes rushing back, on top of the weight of a huge life transition for me. I became disabled just before being accepted to the university. My life changed drastically, and within that first year of this new life is when I met Tim. He seemed a calm in the storm, and constantly supported my dreams. The last time we were there was not long after we graduated, so we were also overdo for a visit, and a walk down memory lane.

The Shoot

Despite the weather being overcast and threatening rain, we took our time touring little alcoves and getting to know Lauren and Josh along the way.

We started the session near the main entrance off of Sumter Street, and ended right in the heart of the park, which is one of the most iconic locations for a portrait session in all of Columbia.

Regardless of being in a scenic location, sometimes it’s not about where you are, the famous building in the background, or the posing. Sometimes it’s just about a sweet moment between two people in love that is so compelling. Lauren and Josh made our time together easy as in many moments of the day all we simply had to do was document.
