There are many places to go locally for a Columbia, South Carolina headshot photographer. Lucky for us, we were asked by my good friend Emanuel, who is both an actor and model, to shoot updated headshots for him. Doing headshots for business professionals is all good and well, but when you have the opportunity to do them for someone who is a model or actor, they are extra special.

Emanuel did not have a positive experience with his last headshot photographer, but luckily he had seen us in action before. He completely entrusted us with his clothing, location, and all other choices for the session.

Why We’re Different

No matter if you’ve been photographed before, it still takes connection and rapport with the photographer to walk away with images that sing. Emanuel and I (Shannon) are good friends and we work together professionally, but he had never been in the hot seat in front of my camera. It was fun being in a totally new situation, and breaking down the natural barriers everyone has with to camera. Within a few minutes of off the wall jokes and setting a relaxed atmosphere, we had Emanuel laughing and comfortably showing his emotions boldly.

What to Wear

We selected 3 options for Emanuel’s clothing. A short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, and a green jacket for variety. All 3 pieces of clothing were solid colors on purpose. Solids are less distracting so they work well not only in headshots, but all other areas of portraiture as well. We purposely chose the pieces to follow a color theme of green and teal. We ended the session with the teal color as it not only looks phenomenal on Emanuel’s skin tone, but it is also a little bold which we think reflects his personality well.
