Prioritizing Date Night While Wedding Planning
It’s easy to get wrapped up in wedding planning. There are so many decisions that have to be made, timelines that have to be met, etc. Many couples feel pressure for the day to be perfect. Once becoming engaged, couples tend to stop dating their spouse-to-be. This is understandable as your relationship is now in a new, very committed stage, and any excess money is generally “for the wedding”. It’s very important to continue dating your fiancé(e). Here are four ways to prioritize date night while wedding planning!
Learn Something New Together
This was the most recommended tip I found during my research. It’s an easy way to create new and exciting memories together. You also might be surprised to find out the love of your life has an unexpected skill! Go to a cooking class together, join a hiking group, take dance lessons, a pottery class or the like. New experiences will melt away any wedding planning stress, and keep the spark alive!
Set “No Wedding Talk” Hours
One way to keep the focus on yourselves instead of the wedding is to set boundaries. Every time you speak to each other wedding planning probably pops up. Set certain times or days of the week that wedding planning talk is not allowed. Whether it’s after 9 pm every night, or twice a week, it will give you both an intentional break to spend time on yourselves. It can coincide perfectly with a date night too!
Prioritize A Weekly (or Monthly) Date Night
Date nights are so important, even after you’re married. Just because a ring has been purchased, doesn’t mean you stop dating the person you chose to spend your life with. Date nights don’t have to be expensive either. If you enjoy staying in more than going out, have an ultimate date night in. Whether it’s cooking a new recipe together or ordering a pizza, pop open some wine, and enjoy each other’s company. Maybe add in some first dance practicing in the kitchen, or binging a new show on Netflix. You know your style as a couple, so make it an evening you both will enjoy!
Get Away Together
A great way to escape is to literally, escape. A few ways to do this would be to book a weekend getaway to a nearby destination, book an Air B&B overnight, or spend the day away in your city. Again, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Exploring new neighborhoods, checking out coffee shops in a different part of town, or visiting a museum are all ways to get out of the house and away from wedding planning.
