The Island House Wedding
We’re still giddy from this sweet and fun Island House wedding in Charleston, South Carolina. Danielle and Kevin wanted their day to be filled with laughter and their personalities to shine through, and I say they accomplished their goal! Danielle chose pops of vibrant colors that totally fit her personality, Kevin wore a custom peacock feather bowtie to add a little pizazz to his look, and his entrance to the ceremony included “Bring ’em out” by T.I. then tossing his shades in the grass cracking everyone up. It was such a unique and entertaining day!
A First Look to Remember 😂
When we geared up for the first look I was under the impression everything would follow typical protocol. However, Danielle had other plans and pranked Kevin by doing the first look with one of his groomsmen (who was wearing a dress)! Kevin wasn’t thrilled about it at the time, but it now makes for a chucklesome memory! We did have a legitimate first look located underneath the Island House’s large oak tree. The day was overcast and breezy, but no one really noticed. All eyes were on them and it was beautiful.
There are many benefits to having a first look (I’ve listed the top five here) but the biggest one is how much it helps the day’s timeline. We’re able to knock all of the portraits out early on, while everybody has new hair and makeup, and then we were able to jump right into the cocktail hour post-ceremony.
The Ceremony and Reception
The ceremony kicked off with Kevin’s aforementioned sunglass toss then Danielle cascading down the stairs onto the lawn. They chose to do a sand ceremony mixing the sands of where they grew up and sand from nearby Folly Beach (so sweet!).
Afterward, dinner was served and we snuck out to the dock for some sunset portraits (would you know that the sun was already gone and we created the sun with our flash?). The reception kicked off with toasts by Kevin’s brother and Danielle’s mother who delivered heartfelt and comical speeches. Next was the cake cutting, and then the real fun began – dancing!
Let’s Boogy!
Kevin and Danielle’s friends and family had no trouble finding their way to the dance floor and letting loose! They belted out lyrics and it was a blast! Kevin brought the house down when his brother had the DJ play “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred. He unbuttoned his shirt and gave Danielle a dance and everyone was dying from laughter (including us)!
The night ended with them running through glistening bubbles underneath fairy lights. Everyone was sweaty and smiling. That’s how you know your party was 10 out of 10.
