Surprise Your Guests
Everyone loves a good surprise! Why not give your guests something to talk about for years to come? Shake up the party and think outside the box. We’ve put together a list of surprises to help you make your day even more fun!
Bust a Move
Are you known for having two left feet? Shock your guests by performing a choreographed routine! This doesn’t have to be your first dance either. It can be with a parent, your bridal party, or even a flash mob with a group of friends! It’s one sure-fire way for your wedding to go viral!
Surprise Costume Change
While we know there was a lot of time and money put into your wedding dress, what if you love more than one? For your reception, why not change into another beautiful number? It can be a totally different style than the dress you wore at the ceremony. Changing into a shorter dress is easier for dancing too.
A Little R&R
While most of us love hitting the dance floor, we may need to take a break from time to time. Create a lounge area with comfy seating for guests to relax. You can fill a basket with flip flops so guests can change out of those dressy shoes, and dance in comfort once they catch their breath! If you’re having an outdoor reception, create a campout area! You can fill the space with cushions, pop up some fairy lights, AND if possible, add a fire pit! Bonus points if you offer ingredients to make s’mores!
Go BIG for Dessert
The wedding cake is a traditional staple, but what if you have a serious sweet tooth (like me!). Surprise guests with a wall of donuts, a color-coordinated display of macarons, or the best idea I’ve found: a milkshake bar! Offer spiked options, and guests will go crazy for it!
Don’t Forget Your Spouse
Gift them a thoughtful piece of jewelry or a timepiece they can always remember this day by. Having something from the heart engraved is always a nice touch. Maybe you haven’t been excited by an activity or trip your spouse loves – surprise them by announcing at the reception you’ll be going to do the activity or vacation at that place! Think hard about what your spouse loves to do for fun, or something they’ve been eyeing for a while. It will make you feel good, and your spouse will be elated!
On a budget? Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be big or expensive! Grabbing the mic at dinner and making a gooey, heartfelt speech about why you love your spouse is a delightful surprise. If making speeches isn’t your thing, write them a letter to open during the getting ready portion of the day.
