The Providence Cotton Mill
After a long and frustrating few months of total lockdown here in Charlotte, I can’t explain to you just how happy I was to attend this editorial session at The Providence Cotton Mill. A Bushel and a Peck put this day together back in June. If you are familiar with our work you know that I am a HUGE fan of their work. I recommended them to every one of my clients because they are true masters of their craft.
As expected, they did not disappoint with the other vendors brought together to make one unbelievably magical day (scroll to the bottom to see the full list of vendors)! I mean seriously, there was even a live painter. Check the first photo below to see the swoon-worthy work of Abby Lyn Art.
Naturally, we adhered to the strict guidelines of social distancing “Phase 1”. It didn’t put a damper on the day though. We laughed and played to our heart’s content. And the photos? Well, just take a look for yourself. 🙃
The Venue
Firstly, The Providence Cotton Mill was a perfect venue selection as it is all completely open-air. This wedding venue boasts 30-foot tall ceilings which give it a larger than life appeal. There are no window panes, making the transition from indoors to outdoors feel practically seamless. We were blessed with a clear day, and as a result, the sun setting behind the treeline on the lawn a simply a DREAM.
Secondly, this open-air pavilion is actually 10,000 square feet in size. You can host the entire day indoors, which makes for a great rain plan. For a frame of reference, they are able to comfortably seat 1,000 guests in this space (in theater style). The exposed brick and plaster walls give the space an old-world charm and appealing textured backdrop.
Lastly, you’re able to use this venue for more than just weddings. For instance, they are happy to host other events or special occasions like birthday parties or gender reveals. You may even just want to have engagement photos taken here, which is totally an option!
Décor
Naturally, this team thought outside the box and wanted to create something one-of-a-kind. They chose to curate a fine art feel and decided the colors for would be “iridescent”. Soft tones of blue, purple, peach, and blush came together in delightful harmony. The marbled chocolate covered Oreos by Swirl were a real eye-catcher and now I can’t wait for one of my couples to add this to their dessert spread!
Two florists were actually brought in for this day. The pieces boasted a French-inspired romance that I, frankly, fawned over. The pedestal arrangement on the sweetheart table, as well as the tall arrangements around the door leading to the lawn, stopped every vendor and model in their tracks.
Similarly, the romantic feeling carried over to the table arrangements which were adorned with skinny lanterns and candles. The iridescent shine on the goblets tied everything together while also giving a vintage feel. Every detail down to the taupe and gold cutlery was specially chosen to perfect the aesthetic.
