The Club at Longview Wedding

This wedding at The Club at Longview was absolutely perfect. From the tear-filled first look Lori had with her father, to the groom’s bass fish cake (that coincided perfectly with his lure lined tuxedo jacket), and let’s not forget the surprise fireworks show, the only negative was the fact the day went by so quickly (as they all do!). We have met so many wonderful couples and captured wedding days at countless venues at this point in our careers but this one – this one was very special.

Getting Ready

Getting ready took place at the stunning Ballantyne Hotel. If you’re looking for a hotel that’s luxurious and modern with a touch of glam, this one is worth looking into. JP surprised his bride with a special bible with custom laser etching on the cover. He really is one of the most thoughtful people we’ve ever met. The time and energy he put into just choosing Lori’s ring (flying all the way to NY) just shows what kind of person he is. We, of course, photographed these along with all of Lori’s carefully selected details, captured the finishing touches of her hair and makeup, and then moved on to the much anticipated first look with her father.

Lori had almost giving up on finding the man of her dreams and began to wonder if her father would get the chance to walk her down the aisle, so this moment was understandably emotionally charged. After capturing their teary exchange, we photographed portraits at the hotel’s grand staircase and made our way to the Club.

The Club at Longview Itself

The Club at Longview is unlike any country club or wedding venue we’ve been to in the Charlotte area. It has an old English (or perhaps German?) vibe. Stony features with chocolate colored wood facings, large iron chandeliers, and grand fireplaces in very room – it’s honestly reminiscent of Hogwarts. The warm afternoon light was dazzling coming through the the yellowing leaves of fall, making the already romantic setting somehow even more magical.

A New Beginning

We photographed the ceremony at Providence Methodist Church where Lori’s dad shocked everyone by escorting her down the aisle without a walker or cane. JP had the reaction most every bride hopes for when the groom sees her for the first time. Lori was truly radiant. Sniffles were coming from both families at this point (even us) because something so intensely beautiful was happening. JP lost his first wife just over a year prior due to a lengthy battle with sarcoma. They both were starting a wonderful second chapter of their lives and the happy tears overflowed!

Going Out with a Bang

We wrapped up the day’s events back at the Club at Longview. After dinner, Lori and JP surprised their guests with a fireworks show (I wish every wedding could do this!). We captured a few nighttime portraits, dancing on the patio, and a fun poppers exit to cap off the evening.

This one was for the record books and we hope we stay real friends with Lori and JP for years to come!
