The Duke Mansion Elopement

We try really hard not to have favorite weddings or elopements, but if we had to make a list, this Duke Mansion elopement would be toward the top! Julio and Anwar planned a courthouse wedding and decided to invest in professional photography at the Duke Mansion to beautifully preserve the memories of their day (we obviously think this was a wise decision!).

This day proves that even when everything may seem to be happening TO you, it’s really happening FOR you. On the day of their elopement, minutes before our scheduled meet-up, we got a call from Julio saying the courthouse was closed due to a gas leak. What are the odds, right? Julio and Anwar had 3 guests for their day (all of whom are from out of state or country) that jumped into high gear to find someone to marry them. With only a couple of hours’ notice, an officiant was found! The gentleman married the pair in his backyard under the shade of gently swaying trees and birds singing. I don’t know about you, but to me, this setting ended up being more romantic than their original location.

Once we knew an officiant had been found, we were able to enjoy capturing the couple getting ready, and then exploring the Duke Mansion’s property. We honestly could have kept photographing them there for the entire afternoon because the venue is undoubtedly beautiful, but also because we adore how sweet these two are together.

The Ceremony and Sunset

From there, we captured their intimate backyard ceremony. Their family members/guests shared heartfelt congratulations and many happy tears. We then capped the day off with a few sunset portraits at Nuvole 22. This bar and restaurant boasts a stunning view of uptown Charlotte. What could have easily shaken everything up turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It was truly a magnificent day.
