Wedding at Wintergreen Woods
Michelle and Matthew’s Wintergreen Woods wedding was just delightful! After ending their relationship in high school, they found each other again (thank you Facebook!), reconnected, and the rest is history! Their love shines through in the looks, and the many laughs, they share!
Their intimate wedding took place on a record high hot day in May, but everyone was all smiles (including us!). While the timeline may have gotten behind (we only had 5 minutes for couple’s portraits!), we made lemonade with the lemons we had, and we’re pretty proud of the results. Scroll down to read, and see, more of their day!
The Details
Who: Michelle and Matthew
Where: Wintergreen Woods (Lexington, SC)
When: May 26, 2019
We began our day grabbing detail images. We arrived before Michelle so we photographed her stunning purple-themed bouquets. Michelle’s love of purple was present everywhere – from the centerpieces, aisle florals, down to her hair clip! Once Michelle and Matthew arrived, we quickly grabbed a couple getting ready images before it was time for the ceremony! Although the temperatures were soaring to 100 degrees, the golden glow of the late afternoon made their ceremony dreamy!
The Location
If you’ve been following us for a while you may know we have shot at this venue before. We previously second shot for another local photographer, and were excited to return to this venue. Wintergreen Woods is located in Lexington, South Carolina, which is approximately 30 minutes from the downtown metro area of Columbia, South Carolina. It has a lovely ballroom with a large brick fireplace. You’ll see the unique stone walkway up to the altar in the images below – it’s quite photogenic! With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, fairy lights creating whimsical ambiance, and a large dance floor, this venue is understandably popular!
The Décor
As mentioned, Michelle LOVES purple! She had carefully integrated pops of purple everywhere. Charming accent lights lit up the outer walls of the reception ballroom, purple flowers adorned the cake, and purple petals were placed inside the centerpieces with floating candles. It was truly romantic!
