Riverfront Park and USC Engagement Session
This Riverfront Park and USC engagement session is one of our nearest and dearest. While every engagement session is special, beautiful, and fun, when you are photographing your brother and his soon-to-be bride…it’s extraordinarily significant.
Jason and Aleshia met in high school, and as it happens, we moved away when they and their relationship were very young. Time and distance were great, and they were led down different paths. I’m not sure how many of us would have guessed 13 years later, they would reunite, and choose each other to walk through life with.
The Shoot
We all decided to meet at my parent’s house in Columbia, South Carolina because it’s a good midway point for us all. We chose to shoot on two separate days in case of inclement weather, but it also allowed for multiple locations and outfit changes without too much stress.
Day one was spent on my parent’s property, shooting during golden hour. They chose to wear casual, comfortable clothes. Getting my brother to be serious is a TASK. He and Aleshia have such great senses of humor, and as you’ll see below, I’ve included a few goofy moments taken along the way (including using getting a few images on my dad’s CubCadet lol!).
Day two we split between Riverfront Park, the University of South Carolina Horseshoe, and the nickelodeon theater on Main Street in downtown Columbia. They chose formal wear for this shoot, and they looked dashing (if I do say so myself). We started shooting in the late afternoon, and though the Columbia heat didn’t let up, we all smiled through to the end. We wrapped up our weekend with a few silhouette images, and the all-important engagement ring detail shots. If you’re looking for some engagement ring inspiration, be sure to scroll down to the end and check out Aleshia’s show stopper!
Acknowledgements
I’m not usually a cry-baby, but when it comes to my family, I have no defenses. Jason, I love you more than words can express. You have always been one of my best friends. I am so profoundly happy you have found the one whom your soul loves – and she loves you in return. Aleshia, I am so grateful we stayed connected through the years. I know you cherish my brother for who he is. It’s comforting to know you’ll take care of him through every hard day, and you are devoted to him for every day to come. I love you both. Congratulations. <3
I hope you found this post enjoyable, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!
