Surprise Proposal at Jetton Park

What’s more fun than engagement photographs? Being able to take them under the guise of a “couple’s session” because it’s a surprise proposal! Sagar is a thoughtful guy because he contacted us ahead of time and planned out a memorable way to ask for his lady’s hand in marriage. He chose to do the surprise proposal at Jetton Park because of the beach area. Scroll down to see Pooja’s reaction!

The Location

Jetton Park is quickly becoming one of our favorite places for any type of photography (you may have seen our springtime engagement and bridal portrait session earlier this year). It did not disappoint this day! As we’ve previously mentioned, this location is expansive and offers many locations for portraits. It changes from week to week, especially in the spring and fall. This session took place right after the peak season for florals, but we still managers to catch a few during our time together.

The Session

These two are naturals in front of the camera. They had no problem following our silly requests and just enjoying the experience. We walked around the park finding lush nooks and crannies, waiting for the beach to clear for Sagar’s big moment. We captured some lovely images by the water in the grassy area near the restrooms. I just love this spot because if you want water in the background, but sand is a “no-go”, it’s no problem.

As the sun set at the beach, the crowd dissipated and I was giddy inside. Yes, even after all these years I get just as jazzed up over surprise proposals as I did the first time I photographed one.

I led them to an open area (there were still a few people enjoying the sunset), set up, and gave Sagar the “secret phrase” (I felt so cool and undercover 😎). He bent down to tie his shoe and Pooja didn’t even notice he was on one knee! Apparently, he has to tie his shoe a lot. 😂 It was so funny afterward. Naturally, a huge grin hit her face when she noticed what was really happening, and she happily said “Yes!”

I was sure to grab a nice macro shot of her new bling before they left for the evening. If you know me, details are one of my favorite things to photograph on a wedding day. I wasn’t going to pass up a chance to make this sparkler really shine. 😍
